Young Christmas thieves
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071229/ap_on_fe_st/odd_kiddie_grinches?i
These children, no matter what age, are thieves, and should be punished by the Law. The article says no charges will be pressed. Why the hell not? They are thieves and deserve to be treated as such. Why is the Law sometimes not fair?!

Tobacco-free university in the new year
FINALLY, Indiana University is attempting to control the use of tobacco on campus.
IU says the entire campus will be ‘tobacco-free’ starting January 1, 2008. This includes university vehicles and all parking lots and garages. Of course, no effort will be made to control the tobacco use within private vehicles, as long as the smoke is somewhat contained.
I’m glad they’re doing this. All universities should be completely smoke-free, in my opinion.

Inspirational quote quoters
Ugh. I can not STAND when people put ‘inspirational quotes’ in their profiles…Facebook, MySpace, AIM, anywhere! It’s ridiculous. People put them in there to look and feel smart, when in truth, most of these people can’t live by half the quotes they use. I especially hate it when people use the SAME ONES everyone else uses. Sure, they’re good quotes! Yes, they’re good messages. BUT NOT IF EVERYONE USES THEM, EVERYWHERE. Apply them when and where necessary, but fuck! Not in your ‘About Me’ section of Facebook! Maybe…ohhh…I don’t know…when and where it applies? How ’bout that?! Or maybe in your ‘favorite quotes’ area. That works! But it works even better if you don’t use that same damned one from Ghandi that eeeeeeveryone knows and still couldn’t care less about! It would be REALLY great if these people started LIVING BY THE THINGS THEY QUOTE. Like, if you quote this phrase, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world,” and you think you’re living by your quotes and inspirational sayings, then you must think that the change the world needs to see is another anorexic pregnant skank-whore mom with a cigarette lit and a boyfriend (not husband!) in prison. Great! That’s EXACTLY what the world needs to see. Right. Or, if you quote something about the world or people or whatever, and you don’t change the way you live or treat people or act in public, whatever, etc., guess what, genius? You shouldn’t quote those things! If they don’t have a REAL meaning to you (and real enough to actually use and apply to your life and world), then…fuck! Don’t quote them! One of the only reasons I get pissed when I see these same fucking inspirational quotes everywhere is because most people just use them to look smart and feel smart. They won’t live by these quotes and ideas ever if their lives depended on it. Fuckers.
Also: don’t quote yourself unless it’s funny. If you’re going to be SO ARROGANT as to use your own damned ‘inspirational quote,’ or say something like, “I enjoy helping people,” “I hope to discover my real self some day,” or “I’m the one to make others laugh,” I give you two things: my middle finger and a cheerful “FUCK YOU.” Leave those types of arrogant self-advertisements to the resume, pal! Use them when you need to make yourself stick out or attempt to look good to someone who might care. The rest of us don’t want to know! Learn some modesty. What is ‘being humble’ or ‘conservative’ anymore?! It wouldn’t be half so bad if you actually lived by your quotes and things you write (see first paragraph).
I’ve always hated these things, but had to bring them out tonight, probably due to my anger at this essay I’m attempting to work on. I need an outlet. This site works well.

Papers
Ugh. Why can’t teachers accept a different format of citation than they ask for? Haha. I have such a problem with that! Three papers, now, and three different teachers…ALL have mentioned my citation. I do it correctly, just not in APA.
Haha I’m pissed! As long as it’s cited correctly, what the fuck? Deal with it! So what if it’s not APA…or in footnotes…? MLA is JUST AS GOOD. Learn to live with it. Thank God I’ll be teaching Japanese or ESL and won’t have to worry about that shit!

In other news, I’ve yet to go ice-skating with Rob! I went last night with 3, T, and ‘Mando (and it was awesome), but Rob and I were going to go today. So, he called, and I actually suggested that we try another day. Haha I felt bad (this is the 3rd time we’ve re-arranged it!), but we both agreed we had waaaay too much to do. Ironically, I ended up sleeping the whole day. Damn it. Now I have an assignment due in 7 hours that I haven’t started yet. However, it should only take me roughly an hour (at most) to do it. I should go do it, then.
Have a great week, everyone, and do well. Have an even better winter break!
