Approaching Normal

OK, need to mention this:

Blue October has a new CD coming out on March 24, 2009, called Approaching Normal!!!!!

I am waaaaaaay too excited about it. But it looks like it will be absolutely amazing.

The single, ‘Dirt Room’ has already been released, as has a bonus track, ‘Graceful Dancing.’ If anyone would like either of these mp3s, send me a message and I’ll get them to you.

Just today, the video for Dirt Room was released, and it is AMAZING!

I ADORE THIS BAND AND ALL THAT THEY DO. No joke. They are my heroes.

Riverdance, Feist

So I ushered Riverdance (final performances of US Tour) on Tuesday and Thursday (final show), and stayed to watch on Thursday. AMAZING show. Toe-tappingly good!

And tonight I ushered a Feist concert (her song “1234″ plays on a new Mac iPod commercial in the US). I stayed for a few songs. Opener was Haydn. I liked his style, but after a while his songs started to sound too similar. Then Feist came out and the house went insane! I only stayed for a few songs, but I like her voice and style. Good stuff. Ridiculously peaceful and relaxing! I wish (a little) I’d stayed longer, but I wanted to get home and make hamburgers, which I did do. They were tasty. All the toppings. Win.

Have a good weekend!

Sweeney Todd

I finally saw Sweeney Todd last night, thanks to an unknown YouTuber, who posted the entire film online, with perfect quality. Excellent! My many thanks to them.

It was an incredibly well done film, with amazing acting and singing, and of course, terrific effects, directing, producing, and atmosphere. However, as expected, it was very bloody and dark.

Basically it’s about a barber (Sweeney Todd) getting his revenge (with help from Mrs. Lovett) on those who wronged him in the past. It’s a lot more complicated than that, but that’s the general idea.

My major props go to Johnny Depp (Todd), Alan Rickman (Turpin), and Bonham Carter (Lovett), who did absolutely stunning work in this. Of course, Tim Burton and Stephen Sondheim must be greatly appreciated as well, since they put this together.

Go see it. NOW.

Everlasting friend

I’m listening to ‘Everlasting Friend’ right now while trying, madly, to catch up on some projects (stupid procrastination! Look where you’ve gotten me now!), and these particular lyrics struck me as un-naturally nice and pleasant. I’ve always loved this song, but tonight it seems even better. Maybe because I’m sleep-deprived and it’s 2:30am…?

“A sudden slip between
My pathetic sedatives.
A real life script of how
Mistakes became our medicines.
So, delay the hurtful words of
Complicated overcast.
Please take the message that
I’m picking up my chin at last.
I set my confidence,
It gets stronger when you’re next to me.
We pray from miles away
In quest for what we long to be…

I might crumble, I might take a fall again…
(Still missing you)
I might crumble, I might take a fall again…
(Still missing you)
I might crumble, I might take a fall again…
But you’re my everlasting friend…”

Good song.
